William Asprey Takes William & Son Into It’s 7th Generation
For over two hundred years the Asprey name has been synonymous with craftsmanship and elegant gift giving of a superior quality the world over.
William Asprey’s immersion in the family firm started at an early age, as a porter and salesman in the school holidays. After leaving school, and following four years with the Royal Green Jackets, an avid horologist, William Asprey worked at both Watches of Switzerland and Mappin & Webb before returning to the family firm.
In 1999 William Asprey left Asprey & Garrard (now named just Asprey London) to set up his own company William & Son, which he did in 2000. William & Son is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.
As Chairman, he seeks to maintain his family’s reputation in the historic surroundings of No.10 Mount Street, a perfect home for an emporium of luxuries. William & Son is an Aladdin’s cave of predominantly British-made luxury merchandise with an eclectic mix of items from exclusive watch brands, handcrafted jewellery, infinitely useful small leather goods and luggage to luxurious leather clad board games and sterling silver ornaments. As proprietor, William Asprey tries to source personally each item within the store.
William & Son has longstanding relationships with many of their suppliers and as a result offers a world renowned bespoke service. Working with master craftsmen, William & Son can produce an unrivalled selection of custom-designed objects d’art, leather goods, intricate ornaments and trinkets. Each bespoke order is designed by an in-house team of craftsmen, from the drawing board to the finished product. With service from experienced and informed staff, shopping at William & Son carries on the traditions of quality, service and luxury synonymous with his past heritage.
In 2005 he opened up a dedicated gun shop two doors down at No. 14. A keen shot, William is carrying on the family tradition of building and selling the finest sporting guns possible as well as clothing and accessories. In his personal time William tries to spend as much of the season as possible shooting and is in essence an “Urban Ruralist”.
William is married, with three children and lives in Chelsea, London. His most prized possession remains his family and the time he is able to spend with them.
Why not wonder into No. 14, William and the Team will be happy to assist you in the purchase of a completely bespoke Barrel and Butt. A perfect conversation starter would be to mention Hard Lives in passing.
